Here is all the news with the big man - #1 as he likes to call himself. Alessandro is now solidly 3 1/2 years old and is always surprising us with things he can do and understand. He is back in school three days a week and attends reading club on Thursday and swimming on Tuesday. He loves the library (reading in general), anything related to cars or trucks and literally running around like crazy. His new love on the playground at school is the sand box where I always find him while checking up during the day. His teachers seem to concur that he is somewhat quiet unless spoken to (not at home of course) but understands everything and plays well every day.
For brag time he knows his letters, numbers (up to 20 not counting 13), colors and shapes. He also has been surprising both of us with what we think is early reading. We are not sure how much is reading and how much is memorization of all his favorite books but he seems to at least be taking it all in. Daddy is really the rock star with this reading to him every night from his library of books. Alessandro also loves animals and the zoo where we visit often - he knows most animal names and can point them out in books or on "sprout." Sprout for you non toddler parents is their favorite channel - PBS for pre-schoolers where they watch Sesame, Caillou and of course THOMAS.
We had a great visit with PopPop -the last before their fantastic journey. This was also over PopPops birthday and there is nothing ADL loves more then a birthday party. We made cupcakes and paper hats to wear and the boys had quite a party for him. Then afterwards each day he would greet PopPop in the morning with "Happy Birthday PopPop..."In addition Alessandro is starting to really have some fun play dates with his little friends. His buddy Joshua had a fantastic birthday party, Aidan came over to play in the backyard and we went over to Chase's house and played with his awesome train set. It is fun to see him being a little more social and think school is helping a lot with that - not to mention that Nino is getting even more fun to play with these days and less someone that he just orders around (am happy for this to end for now).
Two other quick holiday related notes - ADL changes his mind moment to moment on what he wants to be for Halloween. Some of the suggestions surprise me because they are things he knows nothing about except what he hears from his friends like Star Wars. We have a costume and it is here - am waiting to bring it out until closer to the day to not give him much time to change his mind. Also about Christmas - Alessandro is really getting the Santa concept this year and has eagerly checked the mail each day for catalogs of toys (and they come almost everyday). He also has started suggesting things that Nino should ask for - usually things that he has and does not want to share. "Nino - you should ask Santa for a tool box of your own." Boy I can already tell it is going to be some Christmas.... XOXOXO
