First Day of School (ADL)

Today was Alessandro's first day of four year old pre-school. We were a little nervous because he did seem a tad uninterested this morning (as in I don't want to go to school) and he has been talking about his teacher from last year non-stop making me worried that we should pre-pare for a scene. When we got to school everything was just fine - Mommy and Nino stayed for about five minutes chatting with the other parents and letting him settle in and then quietly left. And when I say quiet that means Nino kicking and screaming of course leaving not only his brother but all the new and interesting toys.
The schedule this year is basically the same - free play, art or craft project, learning time, playground time (or ADL's beloved "bike room" when the weather is poor), bathroom, snack, story time and pick up. Whew! It is exhausting just thinking about all that action. What is also exhausting is that there are 14 - 3 year olds in his class - Can you believe that??? After a week of VBS with eight kids, mama was willing to sell them all to the highest bidders, so these ladies must be really something. There is one full time teacher and a full time teacher's assistant who seem to have it very much in hand. This of course was not to be missed by Alessandro who kept telling Daddy that "school was great but just a little crowded."
Luckily there are still two days left this week at school where we can try to cause havoc in the pick up line by being poky and also use our new favorite saying "let's do this." The latter is pure David and makes the little guy sound like a cross between a truck driver and a wrestler - yippee!

Happy Back To School!!! XOXO
